About Bruce Hyer

Since 2020, Bruce Hyer has been working with small- and medium-sized companies and non-profits as a creative consultant and producer, developing marketing programs, telling stories and crafting beautiful imagery to help drive brands and messaging. See the Case Studies page for examples.

Formerly, Bruce was the Chief Creative Officer and founding partner of OutdoorFlics Digital Studio and Media Lab (previously Adventure Advertising), a digital agency specializing in strategy, content creation, and digital distribution. In this capacity he led the creative team responsible for developing innovative and impactful campaigns for a variety of leading outdoor-lifestyle brands.

In 2013, OF created the groundbreaking Project Z series for Z-Man, utilizing a first-for-the-industry all-digital content strategy to both target customers and maximize the limited budget. Project Z went on to be adopted by Z-Man as their premium brand identity for both products and marketing.

This experience was put to good use for Exmark, a long-time client of OF, and the leading manufacturer of commercial-grade lawnmowers. Execution of a series of majority-digital campaigns helped more than triple their sales over a five-year period. Throughout these campaigns, Bruce oversaw creative development and production, maintaining consistent messaging, quality visuals, and high production values. Exmark’s success with digital marketing and content creation has inspired Backyard Life, a content hub built around outdoor-lifestyle activities and personalities.

Adventure Advertising (later OutdoorFlics) was created in 2004 to meet the needs of advertisers in the outdoor-lifestyle sector, who needed appropriate creative for Hooked on the Outdoors magazine. Hooked was created in 1998 and Bruce was the Creative Director of the award-winning magazine through its eight-year run.

Bruce began his creative career behind a camera, so you’ll see him directing and producing shoots, ensuring that the visuals will always tell a great story and show your product or service with the greatest impact.

These talents also can be seen in his work as an award-winning filmmaker, including 2017’s feature film End of the World Rocks and 2019’s documentary Mountains + Movies, both of which are making the rounds on the film festival circuit. He and his wife Cathy formed Hafodgau Films to create films for small organizations and non-profits, which they have done since 2010.
